I feel as if I'm back in high school or university and having to dissect and analyze a famous poem.

You're stating that both anguish and elegance lack color? Josh, I beg to differ.

I feel that anguish can be black or red; elegance can be silver or gold, or even black & white.

Certainly these are colors in my eyes.

(And really, WHERE do you get these flashes of brilliance to throw our way? Do you read them somewhere? Are they original? Whatever, they are creative exercises to stretch the mind...and often the soul.)

i agree, tpearl. i see anguish as mostly black. i see elegance as shiny, silver or cream colored. anguish makes me think of a closed, pained soul, while elegance is free and open and flying high.

thanks for the feedback, and compliments.

i agree on the other colors in a certain framework, but pure anguish and simple elegance i see in black and white respectively, taking each to be a lack of color in its own way.

elegant anguish
feeling sitting on a blog
a tint all its own

your poem inspired me to write this haiku.

i appreciated your poem, as i do your words in general.

my perspective seems more similar to some other commenters than to yours, but we're all seeing the same thing our own way - not really disagreeing...maybe.

Both anguish and elegance are pristine. Opposite ends of the spectrum. Color only clouds the pure state of the feelings.

anon- nearly exactly how i would have said it in prose. but i see them as opposites on a horseshoe shaped spectrum. maybe i'll come up with a post on that point.

very well written - do you blog too?
